Catalogue of the work of Astrid Klein, as part of the project for solo shows of three women German artists (Astrid Klein, Christa Näher and Isolde Wawrin), curated by Martin Kunz and collectively entitled Aus Deutschland (“From Germany”). Each of the three catalogues contains a small brochure, authored by Martin Kunz, that illustrates the general theme of the exhibitions. The idea was to bring together three women German artists whose works shared an originality that set them apart from the dominant tendencies of the German art of the 1980s. The catalogue contains introductory essay by Amine Haase summing up Klein's outstanding use of large-scale Photos , quoting Haase's subtitels: "Black and White; Shadow and Light; Desperation and Hope" and presents the works which the artist showed in Lucerne in the exhibition of 1984: large-format photographs (among various other techniques) which the artist had manipulated by placing objects and manipulating enlargement of cut outs of press photos in the darkroom laboratory and darkroom. Sometimes using also texts and installing large blow-up photos in space combined with other media.
